We just have to start. I know it's not always easy because sometimes we procrastinate or we're waiting for the perfect time. We're waiting for that inspiration. We're waiting to feel like doing something, but guess what? We don't always feel like doing something. This is Lead with Culture. I'm Kate Volman, and this is a mini episode where I want to share three activities to instantly boost your energy so you can pursue your dreams. Most people say that time is our most valuable asset, but let's talk about something even more powerful. Energy. I mean, let's face it, what good is all the time in the world if you don't have the drive and energy to make the most of it? And while we can't necessarily generate more time, we can generate more energy.

Kate Volman [:

Here are three easy activities to instantly boost your energy. Number three is my favorite. Number one, get moving. We spend way too much time glued to our screens. No wonder we feel so lethargic and we're dragging. By the end of the day, we have to get up and get moving. Go for a walk between meetings, do some squats or pushups next to your desk, do a light stretch or hey, maybe you want to throw on some music and dance a little bit. Whatever you decide to do, that quick burst of movement will instantly spark your energy.

So stand up, shake it out, and feel that rush. Number two, call your creative friends. Your creative friends are the people in your life that are action takers. They're actively pursuing their dreams. Their infectious energy will inspire you to step up your game. Don't you just love being around other creators when other people are building their better future? We get inspired. We get empowered. We can help each other, we can lift each other up.

So whatever it is, if you are feeling that little lull when you say you want to work on a creative project, but you don't have the energy to do it. When you call your creative friends and you just talk to them about what they're working on, and then they ask you what you're working on. When you have those types of conversations regularly, you can't help but want to get after it to go. You get that motivation. You get that inspiration. You feel inspired and empowered to do the work that you know you're meant to do. And number three, I told you, this one's my favorite. Just start.

Kate Volman [:

We just have to start. I know it's not always easy because sometimes we procrastinate or we're waiting for the perfect time. We're waiting for that inspiration. We're waiting to feel like doing something. But guess what? We don't always feel like doing something. In fact, just the other day, I had planned to work on a writing project after work. But I had a really long day. And when I got home, I even thought about how much easier it would be for me to simply throw on an audiobook and listen to it or go onto Netflix and see what show I can watch, because I just.

Kate Volman [:

I wasn't feeling it. And so what I did was I challenged myself to Write for just 15 minutes. I said, hey, you know what? You can. You can write for just 15 minutes. And so I sat down, wrote for 15 minutes, and guess what happened? I was so into the work. I had so much more energy than when I sat down. I was excited because I was doing the work I know that I was meant to do. There's something so powerful about starting the project, doing the thing.

Kate Volman [:

The same thing happens with workouts. How many times have you planned to go to the gym? And then when it's time to actually go, you think, oh, I don't feel like it. I'm tired. I could be doing all these other things, just hanging out instead of going to the gym. But when we go to the gym, oh, don't you feel so good after? You feel amazing. You have so much more energy. I have never had a friend call me after going to the gym saying they wish they didn't. But I've had plenty of people call me and say, ugh, I should have gone to the gym yesterday.

Kate Volman [:

Or, ugh, now it's 10 o'clock. I should have gone to the gym after work like I had planned. Sometimes we just need to challenge ourselves. We just need to push ourselves. Which brings you back to number two. Call your creative friends. When you don't feel like doing something, call your creative friend. That's going to challenge you, that's going to push you.

Kate Volman [:

They're not going to give you the way out. They're not going to let you off the hook. They're not going to tell you it's okay to not do the thing, because they know that doing the thing is important to you. And they also know that you called them because they are the person in your life that is going to challenge them. Those are three activities to instantly boost your energy so you can pursue your dreams. I hope you found them helpful. I hope you really enjoyed this episode. We so appreciate you being here.
